CRA Hot Rod Camp 2015 … Building a 1969 Pro Touring Chevy Camaro!
CRA Family and Friends,
We have now filed in our memory another CRA Hot Rod Camp. June 14-20 of this year we all came together, six young men joining with eight CRA Builder/Leaders to accomplish the goal of assembling a 1969 Chevy Pro Touring Camaro coupe. This year our camp was once again held in Mt. Sterling, Ohio at the shop of CRA board member Randy and Judy Scott. Each year we say the camps can’t get much better then we get another great group. The six boys came together at the camp from Florida, Indiana and Kentucky to learn and enjoy the week.
Monday morning we started with the bare front stub, body and all the other parts and pieces, and on Saturday we drove the very classy looking ’69 Pro Touring Camaro out of the shop. The build was a challenge which pulled all of us together to achieve the goal. Team work builds good fellowship and good fellowship builds good friendships. The positive thing is that we can hold close the memories, friendships, fellowship and blessings experienced at this camp for a lifetime. We like it when our campers come eager to learn not only about building a car but how to build a good life also; this group was eager to learn both. The purpose of the camp is to introduce the boys to the hobby of street rodding, which is a hobby that can be enjoyed by an entire family. Additionally we want to share Christian values with them that can help them be good husbands, fathers and in general lead them to The Scriptures that will guide their lives forever. We want them to be givers to society and not takers from society. God continues to bless and do a great work within these camps.
The CRA camps provide an opportunity for men to share wisdom to an up and coming generation of young men and most of all to share the love mercy and grace of God the Father. WOW! What a blessing to all involved in these camps.
Over the last ten years and thirteen camps many faces have changed but the mission is still the same, "Building Cars—Changing Lives". This will always be our mission!
We were so blessed once again by community support in Mt. Sterling, Ohio. I want to thank Ben & Joys for all our breakfasts' while we were there and the Dairy Freeze for the lunches they provided as well as their hospitality for our "Ice-cream Cruise" evening. Randy & Judy, thank you for opening your home and ‘Randy's shop’ to us for the week of the camp. The warmth you extended to all is well above any expectations one could have.
Rick, Randy, Kevin, Buck, Michael, Tim and Perry, THANK YOU; who could ask for a greater team! Your leadership in the build and most of all, the spiritual message each of you shared in devotionals and "Shop Talk" will rest in the hearts of the campers for years to come. Larry, thank you for all you did in helping Kevin and me in the pre-build prep of the Camaro, you were a driving force. Also thanks to George and Steve for the beautiful paint work on the ’69, everyone loves the paint scheme! Ida, Judy, Theresa, Pam and Regina, thank you for all the support, prayers and the great food! All of you help make the camp special.
Daniel, Zac, Evan, Zeth, Trevor and Matthew, we thank you for making this CRA Hot Rod Camp one of the best. And Zeth, your decision to follow Christ is the best decision you will ever make in your life! Also those of you that re-committed Friday evening to truly follow Christ in your daily life not just go through the motions, hold true to that decision “His Word will never let you down” You are a great group of young men and I know God has a blessed plan for your life.
A heart-felt thanks to all the individuals and vendors that support our camps. Your support helps make a tremendous difference in many lives.
