CRA Hot Rod Camp 2016 … Building a 1933 Factory Five 3 Window Coupe!
CRA Family and Friends,
Another CRA Hot Rod Camp has come and gone in time, but is still a part of our memory. June 5-11 of this year we all came together, five young men joining with seven CRA Builder/Leaders to team up and assemble a ’33 Ford Coupe. Again this year our camp was held in Mt. Sterling, Ohio at the shop of CRA Board Member, Randy and Judy Scott. Each year we start with anticipation of what the group of boys will be like and each year we are blessed with a fantastic team.
This is our second Factory Five Racing ’33 Hot Rod used as a project. They make great projects and the boys love them. The project started on Monday morning with the bare painted chassis, the body and all the other parts and pieces came together throughout the week, and on Saturday we drove ‘the very quick little ’33’ and took each camper for a ride in the project they helped assemble. The camp vehicles are always challenging which pulls all us together to achieve a common goal. Over the past 14 camps we have watched friendships develop, many of which still remain today. We can hold close the memories, friendships, fellowship and blessings experienced at this camp for a lifetime. Our goal is to build character, determination and compassion while teaching valuable life lessons based on a Christian foundation. We want to introduce the boys to the hobby of street rodding, which is a hobby that can be enjoyed by an entire family. Additionally we want to share Christian values with them that can help them be good husbands, fathers and in general lead them to ‘The Scriptures’ that will guide their lives forever. We want them to be givers to society and not takers from society. God continues to bless and do a great work in these camps.
As the CRA leaders share wisdom they’ve attained in their lives to an up and coming generation of young men, most of all they desire to share the love mercy and grace of God the Father. Being a part and watching lives change in these Camps is such a blessing.
The mission will never change, "Building Cars—Changing Lives". This is why we do what we do!
Once again the community support in Mt. Sterling, Ohio was fantastic. I want to thank Ben & Joys for all our breakfasts' while we were there and the Dairy Freeze for the lunches they provided as well as their hospitality for our "Ice-cream Cruise" evening. Randy & Judy, thank you for opening your home and shop to us again for the week of the camp. I’m not sure how we could pull this off without you generosity.
Randy, Kevin, Buck, Michael, Tim and Perry, THANK YOU! I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such leaders and roll models. Your leadership in the build and most of all, the spiritual message each of you shared in devotionals and "Shop Talk" will rest in the hearts of the campers for years to come. Larry, thank you for all you do in helping Kevin and I in the pre-build of the projects, you are a blessing and a driving force.
Again we want to thank George and Steve for the beautiful paint job on the ’33. Also we can never forget our ladies, Judy, Theresa and Pam, thank you for all the support, prayers and the great food! Without your support and prayers, the Camps would suffer greatly.
Ashton, Collin, Josh, Storm and Zeke…we want to thank you for sharing part of your summer by coming to CRA Hot Rod Camp, your contribution will not be forgotten. And Storm, your decision to follow Christ is the best decision you will ever make in your life! Both the CRA builder/leaders and the campers are always touched by the way God shows His grace and love. Our prayer is that each one of you who have experienced a CRA Hot Rod Camp will always hold on to God’s Word as your road map to life.
A heart-felt thanks to all the individuals and vendors that support our camps.
Your support helps make a tremendous difference in many lives.
