Has God been ‘nudging’ you that He wants to do something new and special in and through you in the New Year of 2020? If so, you may be thinking, ‘How can that happen?’ You may feel you lack the training, methods, skill, or even a personal connection with someone who could help you along the way. In the Bible when the angel came to Mary with the word from heaven, Mary also asked, “But how can this happen?”
If you’re wondering how God will go about bringing your ‘something new’ to pass, remember that ‘He will be the One’ who will accomplish it! No one else will get the credit! On this first day of January 2020…not only is it a new year, it also a new decade…and while the Lord does not doubt your devotion and willingness to serve Him; however, He knows you are not able to accomplish the task on your own. Yet God had a unique plan for Mary, and He has one for you as well! While you may not be ‘privileged’ to see the future, and may not even have the foggiest idea what all God has in store for you, none-the-less, He has a plan for each of your days in 2020! David said in Psalm 139:16, “You (God) saw who You created me to be before I became me. Before I’d even seen the light of day, the number of days you planned for me were already recorded in your book.”
God is not looking at your education, or even how willing your flesh is to accomplish that something special, rather, He desires your total dependence to be upon Him. Paul wrote in 2 Cor. 3:4-5 “We carry this confidence in our hearts…yet we don’t see ourselves as capable enough to do anything in our own strength, for our true competence flows from God’s empowering presence. He alone makes us adequate…” That tells us our position is to have 20/20 vision, praying and leaning on Lord’s direction for 2020 until you see your ‘something new’ happen!’
In the O.T. book of I Samuel, God intended for Saul to live out his days with the Lord’s blessing and to be remembered as the man who delivered Israel from the bondage of their captives. However, Saul missed his destiny as he began to give in to his need for human applause and acceptance; making compromises, he missed the plan God had for him.
The word I encourage you with as you and I have now entered 2020, is that rather than leaning on your own strength and resources, depend totally upon God. Not just one time, not just twice, but each day of 2020. It will be then, at the end, when you and others see your success, you will be able to step back and say, ‘This is how it happened!’
Blessings, Psalm 20:7 Dale & Jeannie
