Nearing the End of the Beginning!

No matter if it’s TV news broadcasts, radio broadcasts, weather reports, or biblical pundits, (described in the dictionary as “an expert in a particular subject or field who is frequently called on to give opinions about it to the public) much of the reporting leads the listener or reader to either intentional, or unintentional feeling a sense of anxiety abounding.

Many are asking, “Is what all is taking place today have anything to do with what Jesus said in Matthew 24:3?”  First, let’s look at exactly what it was that Jesus did say in that verse.  “Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “…‘Tell us, when will these things be?  And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?’”  Notice the disciples did not ask Jesus about what would be the sign of His coming at the end of the world….but “at the end of the age.”  It was from that question that Jesus in His next words addressed their question by saying, “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.  And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars.  See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.  And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.  All these are the beginning of sorrows.”

Currently we are living in what is referred to as the “Church Age,” and the Lord reveals Himself to individual people by way of His Holy Spirit.  For all who have asked the Lord for forgiveness of their sins; then have asked Jesus into their hearts; and who have chosen to live a life ‘sold out’ to Him and His ways; the Holy Spirit moves into their very being….locked and loaded….to help, encourage, and to facilitate living the type of life John writes about in his Gospel, chapter 15 and 16.  It will be then that a shocked world of friends and family will immediately know things have changed in their loved ones life.

What then is the end of the beginning all about?  It is the words of Jesus letting us know that while the troubles and issues that surround us are real, they are not the end.  Rather, they are a ‘strong wake-up-call’ to urge us back and in to the Bible that perhaps we have neglected for some time, to read and realize that we are closer to the end of the age today than we even were yesterday!  Secondly, that the Rapture of the church and believers could be just around the corner.  For on the heels of the Rapture comes the Great Tribulation period of time Matthew 24:24-28 tells us of.  (Let me remind you that you do NOT need to be here for that horrible time!)

So, where is it we read about this Rapture in the Bible?  Paul tells us quite vividly in his words in I Thessalonians 4:13-17.  Notice verses 16- & 17.  “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God.  And the dead in Christ will rise first.  Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  And thus we shall always be with the Lord.”  The words “caught up” is where we get our English word “Rapture” from.  It is similar in helping us to see that in Revelation 4:1 the Lord said to John, “Come up here!” That is additional ‘help’ to us to see another example of John being taken out of this world, to be immediately with the Lord for all that God wanted to show him.

Today, be encouraged!  While the pandemic of coronavirus is real, and even evil originally initiated and sent by the devil upon planet earth and people…this is not the end of the world….or the end of as the Bible states, “the end of the age.”  However, it is direct and loving warnings of where we are in regards to the words and warnings of the Bible.  We are nearing the End of the Beginning!

Blessings, Psalm 20:7 Dale & Jeannie
