John Gunnell reported in a recent editorial in, “Old Cars Weekly,” of the hearing for several ’32 Ford hot rod owners, ticketed for equipment violations by the Wisconsin State Patrol. According to the article, the owners were ticketed for not having a hood or fenders on their cars. Those ticketed said they do not have issues with the laws on the book, but they do take issues with how those laws are oft interpreted. According to reports, one of the vehicles ticketed was the ‘Dodge Lil’ Red Express Truck,’ the owner was cited for having vertical stack-type exhausts, which is factory equipment on that particular model.
Many hot rodders and car enthusiasts interested in the case, and its impact on vehicle equipment law interpretations showed up at the court hearing in Wisconsin. Some of the interested parties drove as far as 250 miles to attend. The court instructed the ’32 Ford owner and the district attorney to try to resolve the ticket situation. The court said if the parties cannot come to an agreement, they must appear in court on June 13 to set a date for a jury trial. The Judge and the District Attorney gave no indication of what they thought about the legality of the tickets and so there was no discussion about the tickets.
When it comes to automobile enthusiasts, especially those with many after-market ideas to improve on handling performance, engine modifications, and up-grades…there seems to be no end for better implementation of better designs for handling and a car’s functioning operation.
That said, it is a far cry from another area that leaves no room for changes, or man’s self-help reasoning and ideas, no matter how much one thinks he has a better plan. Galatians 1:8 in the Passion version reads, “Anyone who comes to you with a different message than the grace gospel that you have received will have the curse of God come upon them! For even if we or an angel appeared before you, to give you a different gospel than what we have already proclaimed, God’s curse will be upon them.” Then in Revelation 22:18-19 we read these words in the Passion version: “I testify to everyone who hears the prophetic words of this book: If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone subtracts from the prophetic words of this book, God will remove his portion from the Tree of Life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.”
In the day we live we are seeing and witnessing what can only be described as contrary utterances being spewed from many involved in government positions; TV and movie personalities; and as unbelievable as it may seem, to many of us…similar derogative, far from Godly inspired words being shared from behind pulpits across our land. To top it off, many of the words even from preachers and teachers are words and sermons laced with a lack of a “fear of God” attitude, while others fail to mention anything about the last day scenarios spoken of in the Bible. It’s as if preaching on end-times, or America and Israel’s relationship, is anathema.
The Bible, God’s Word, is NOT UP TO DEBATE or on trial as to whether it is true, accurate, and a written form to guide and direct mankind. It is written and carved in stone as were the 10 Commandments” (Ex. 31:18).
What then are we to do? Devote yourself to supplementing your faith with goodness; and to goodness add understanding; and then; strength of self-control; then patience endurance; then godliness; then mercy towards others; then unending love. Because the Bible states these were ‘placed’ in you in the beginning of your life, therefore, it’s now up to you and me to proclaim them as jury tried, and lived out. After all, this was “written with the finger of God!”
