The Question is…

It doesn’t take long to see this world we are traveling through is in the grips of a death cycle. Whether we like to think about it or not, the moment we are born, we actually begin to die. Even when we look at the pink radiance glowing from the unblemished, wrinkle-free skin of a newborn baby, a parent will think of that little life as just beginning, however, if we look beyond initial feelings, we realize what we refer to as newly born; is actually beginning a cycle towards what is inevitable. Every area of life is all part of the cycle that has been keeping this world in check ever since Adam aligned with Satan in the Garden of Eden.

No matter how we look at it, life is short! Very short, and most of us want to end our days knowing we accomplished more than occupying space. I remember being with a couple when the topic came up with them expressing a heart-filled desire to be involved deeper in ministry. At one point the wife voiced that while their desire was to be used of the Lord, they were not sure if they were trained enough to fulfill all that it involved. Our response was, “That is simply is not the case!” The Lord is looking for availability not our ability! When we make ourselves available…He will see to it that the abilities He provides will be more than enough to meet the challenges we face.

God can take the most simple person in the world who will dare to believe what is written in the Word, and then empower such a person to do the job they are called to do. What is required of us is, to get off the couch and away from the front of the TV, facing the reality that there is work to be done! Job certainly recognized the swift passing of his days on this earth with his words in Job 7: 6 when he said, “My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle,” and in verse 7 that “…my life is a breath!” With this we are to recognize that we as individuals have something specific that has been laid out before us to accomplish for His glory. A responsibility! A purpose! A ‘planned’ life designed and lovingly patterned by the God of creation that only we can do. That means that if that responsibility placed on us isn’t attempted, then there is one, two, or twenty, that will go un-touched with words that could have completely changed their life.

You say: “I’m no preacher; no Sunday School teacher; not even a very knowledgeable person of the Bible.” No excuse! God will provide everything that is needed and just in the right time needed! He’s not looking for your credentials from some school or college, He’s already provided for your schooling…the Holy Spirit living within you after you have accepted His Son Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior. What is it then that holds you back? In Joshua 3 beginning with verse 13 we’re reminded about Joshua and the children of Israel arriving at the edge of the Jordan. The Bible states that they were to put the soles of their feet “in the waters of the Jordan, and (it would be then) that the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off, and the waters that come down from upstream shall stand as a heap.” Then Israel would “cross over on dry ground, until all the people had crossed over….”

Nothing would be accomplished by staying dry on the banks of the Jordan. Israel recognized that if they didn’t get moving, there was somebody who wasn’t going to hear about the God of Israel who performs wonders and miracles in the midst of problems!

You can do it! Because He has hand-picked you to help get His Word out! The question is, will you do it?
