Who told you that you were naked?

The ministry of Andrew Womack is changing lives all over the world. Following God calling Andrew into ministry, one of the Lord’s gifts to him is the calling to change the way individuals relate to God. Since his beginning days, Andrew has been doing that through Charis Bible College, TV, radio, and various ministry materials for now almost fifty years. Along with his wife Jamie, they have dedicated their lives to teaching the truth of the Gospel with special emphasis on God’s unconditional love and the balance between grace and faith.

Author of multiple books, one title of Andrew’s books is quoted in today’s heading. In Gen. 3:11, after Adam’s admission they had attempted to hide themselves after eating the forbidden fruit, the Lord asked the question, “Who told you that you were naked?”

Today many live in the cloud of past wrong choices, failed marriages, broken promises, and personal injuries from words spewed on them that is often difficult of recovering from. Sociologists tell us that two things mainly determine human behavior, which is our parents and our environment. However, there is good news coming your way for today, tomorrow, and the remainder of your life! This same God, Who asked Adam the question about his nakedness, is the very same ‘wrap around’ God who often comes to you and me asking who it was that was our accuser.

A person’s past does not need to determine their future! Furthermore, what you are, and presently believe, does not have to determine your future! There is help on the way! Maybe you remember the story about a storeowner who put a sign on the door that read “Puppies for Sale”. A young boy appeared and asked, “How much are you going to sell the puppies for? I have 39 cents, I hope that is enough.” Even though the owner had in mind much more money than that, he kindly said, “That’s exactly how much they cost!” The boy was so excited, and the owner opened the cage and out came the most adorable little puppies. “Which one do you want?” the owner asked. Just then, one more puppy came hobbling along. It was clear that something was wrong with its hind legs. The boy said, “I’d like that one!” “No you don’t want him, can’t you see he has something wrong with his legs?” The boy pulled up his pants leg to reveal a brace on each of his legs! “So do I” said the boy. “And he’s going to need someone who understands, and loves him.”

Has there not been ‘that some time’ we all were in need of someone? Someone who would not judge us by our past, but accept us for our future! Maybe you were born in less-than-ideal circumstances, or put down by another whose words left an almost indelible mark on your memory. Maybe you’ve been wondering if you can ever overcome the issues that have been placed upon you by others, and perhaps even by yourself. The truth is; God is a TURN-AROUND God who specializes in making your future days totally opposite of your past days! God specializes in using those who have been rejected by others! Read the story of Jephthah who was the son of a harlot in Judges 11.

The encouraging word for today is from Phillips translation of 2 Cor. 5:17, “This means that our knowledge of men can no longer be based on their outward lives. For if a man is in Christ he becomes a new person altogether—the past is finished and gone, everything has become fresh and new.”

The enemy who told you that you were naked because of your past, needs to be reminded of the words of God in Gen. 3:21: “The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.”

Blessings, Psalm 20:7 Dale & Jeannie
