Beginning with the very first chapter of the Bible in Genesis 1:26, we find what man’s place is on this earth, and that is the authority “over all the earth,” and when God says something… “He is not a man, so He does not lie. He is not human, so He does not change His mind. Has He ever spoken and failed to act? Has He ever promised and not carried it through?” (Num. 23:19)
With this as our foundation, we then see what the words of Jesus tell us in Matthew 18:18. “I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whatever you bind [forbid, declare to be improper and unlawful] on earth shall have [already] been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose [permit, declare lawful] on earth shall have [already] been loosed in heaven” (Amp.) The NCV version reads, “I tell you the truth, the things you don’t allow on earth will be the things God does not allow. And the things you allow on earth will be the things that God allows.”
You and I have the right as well as the responsibility of making choices! And with that right, the choices we make will either be right or wrong choices; helpful and beneficial, or not helpful and bring hurt and trouble upon not only us as individuals, but quite often on others as well.
You and I have been given by Almighty God the right and authority to make choices. We do that every day! One thing right after the other during the course of the day, every moment we are awake, we will make choices. The choices we make will either be productive and good, or destructive and bad with lasting consequences.
Notice what Deuteronomy 30:19 has to say! “Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live! This is the key to your life.”
Think about this! When you find yourself in uncomfortable situations, it is time to wake up and realize that God has given you a part to play! It’s useless to sit around doing nothing while expecting God to do what He has already either told you to do, or given you the authority to choose what to do.
While the words of this ‘Moment’ have numerous applications of life, it certainly is applicable when it comes to voting for the right man or woman running for the position of guiding not only our nation, but giving guidance to your life and mine!
Don’t allow the enemy to cause you to think your one vote won’t make a difference, or why should I go to the problem of having to get up, and get out and make my way to the polling booth? Because one vote does matter, and furthermore, disobedience to God’s Word certainly matters!
