I need not take up space listing many of the things taking place today. Suffice it to say, even believing the Words of the Bible, many have allowed others to leave them both fascinated, yet a mite frightened during the times we are going through. Just what is it we are to hold onto during turbulent times?
The Bible encourages us to be alert; mindful; attentive; awake; informed; knowledgeable, of what it teaches and it gives us as a ‘head’s-up’ with words in Acts 17:11 that tell us to be as those in Berea. They “…received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.” Yet, today, many do just the opposite! Today we have the book of Revelation that gives a ‘blow-by-blow’ depiction of what will take place at the end of this age, yet Revelation is often ignored by many. Christians seem to either be afraid of it or be obsessed with trying to “decode” it. However, John tells us in chapter one, verse 3, “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.”
In Rev. 1:1 John prepares to write to each of the seven churches that were located in present day Turkey. In Rev. 2 & 3 he writes about WHAT KIND each church was, and will be today. Every church on planet earth can find themselves in one of the seven the Lord spoke about.
One of the main questions most ask about Revelation is, “Where does…or does America fit in to end times?” If you have visited Wash. D.C. you know that each morning when the sun rises…the rays of the sun fall on the eastern side of the city’s tallest structure, the 555 ft. tall Washington Monument. On the east side of the Monument are the Latin words: “Laus Deo.” It was back on February 9, 2018 President Trump on the National Day of Prayer referred to these words during his speech, which mean in English, “Praise be to God!”
Is it possible that these words were just a claim to American’s empty devotion to God…or were they words that reflect a true reality? In Peter Marshall’s book, “The Light & the Glory,” Peter asks a profound question. “What if Columbus’s discovering of America had not been accidental at all? What if it was just the beginning of an amazing history that was to take place? Did God have a special plan for America? What if He had a plan for those He would bring to America, (or those born) a plan which saw this continent as a stage for a new era in the drama of mankind’s redemption?”
President Ronald Reagan certainly believed God had a plan for our nation. He wrote, “I have always believed that this anointed land was set apart in the uncommon way, that a divine plan placed this great continent here between the oceans to be found by people from every corner of the earth who had a special love of faith and freedom.”
And yet nothing was written in the Bible about America in the last days! Why? Just maybe Dr. Tim LaHaye is right when he wrote these words. “One of the hardest things for American prophecy students to accept is that the U.S. is not clearly mentioned in Bible prophecy. America is less than 250 years old—much younger than the nations mentioned in Bible prophecy. In fact, the ancient prophets were primarily concerned with the Holy Land and it neighbors, and most remote areas from Israel don’t figure into Bible prophecy.”
With no direct reference to that plan in the Bible, that does not discount the fact that God has a sovereign purpose for America in His redemptive plan. Think of these reasons: 1. America has been the force behind World Missions. 2. It has been a friend to the Jewish people and Nation. 3. We have been a free nation. 4. America was founded on God and His Word.
