Would you say you are a person who is memorious? Well! Let’s see! First, it might help to be sure we even know what the word memorious means, for it is not a word found in every dictionary. When you do discover its meaning, you find it is expressed a person who has an unusually good memory. Take for instance Jeannie’s involvement in the motorsport ministry of CRA Int’l. For her, even after meeting thousands of wonderful people, she seldom draws a blank when it came to a person’s name, even though she may not have seen that person for a year, two years, and for others, well over ten years. When considering the definition of memorious, it certainly could very well be a complementing word towards her. She has bailed me out numerous times after I’ve had to ask, “Honey! What was their name?”
Being an only child, mom never got my name confused with another sibling since there were none! However, for some reason, with her having three brothers, she would get my name confused with one particular one. Not with Lloyd, or with Chester James, but she would often call me the name of the third brother! How would you like to be called Cleo?
There are those who are terrible with names, and then there are parents who have some difficulty as well. They address you by every name in the household…or book…including at times using the name of the pet dog…all the while looking at you straight in your eye. And to think! They gave you the name in the first place!
Here’s what I want you to hear by way of the words of this CRA Moment. No matter if a female and your name is Carol, Theresa, Kay or Cindy; or, if you’re a man and your name is Gilbert, Robert, Gregg or Dennis, it makes no difference to God because in Isaiah 43:1 we’re reminded, “Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you; I am calling you by your name; you are mine.” There may be thousands of people with the same name as yours, or there may only be just a small handful, either way, it makes no difference to God. He knows you full-well! Inside and out! God doesn’t have to take a stab in the dark when He hears and sees you coming to Him in prayer…not having to guess your name, and not hoping that He gets it right! He knows exactly who you are and even why you are coming to Him, and for what reason!
He not only knows that detail, He knows what you have said or done that is funny, because He knows exactly how your mind works. He knows your very favorite place to eat; the places you like to go, as well as everything you like doing. He knows your deepest need, your most painful wounds, your inner thoughts, your desires, as well as who it was, or even is at this time, who has hurt you the most with unkind words spoken or written regarding issues they feel have arisen between the two of you. And right now, God wants you to know that He loves you, and wants to remind you again to not “…be afraid, for I (the Lord) have redeemed you; I am calling you by your name; you are mine!” In addition, knowing according to Psalm 121:3b, 5 “He who watches over you will not slumber … The LORD watches over you…”
Blessings, Psalm 20:7 Dale & Jeannie
