Again this week the question is being asked; “Is God Speaking…?” Does He still have a plan and purpose for America, or, are we finished as a nation?
Amos 3:7 reminds us, “Surely the Lord God does nothing unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets” (NKJV). Other Bible translations, read: “When the Lord God decides to do something, He will first tell His servants, the prophets” (ERV). The EXB records, “Before the Lord God does anything, He tells His plans to His servants the prophets,” while the WYC reads, “For the Lord God shall not do anything, unless first He tells His secret, or His private, plans to His servants, the prophets.” The NLV reads, “For sure the Lord does not do anything without making His plan known to His servants who speak for Him.” Prophecy is not to cause anyone to be fearful, but to enlighten, awaken, and help all who read the Bible to better understand the time and season in which we live. Nothing…nothing at all…taking place on earth today has caught God by surprise!
Benjamin Franklin, 1706-1790, American Statesman requested prayer at the Constitutional Convention in 1787 saying, “The longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth—that God governs in the affairs of men.” As Christians, we know the truth that God hears and answers prayer. He can soften hearts and He certainly can change minds. He is all-powerful, and He rules over the affairs of not only the United States, but over all nations.
Before looking at merely a few prophecies uttered, consider with me words spoken and written regarding now President Trump. Stephen Strang, is CEO and founder of Charisma Media, which publishes Charisma magazine, and has also translated the Modern English Version Bible. Stephen wrote in his book, with forward by Gov. Mike Huckabee; “God and Donald Trump;” “Donald Trump is certainly no theologian, and he has been described by some observers as a ‘baby Christian’ at best. But Christian leaders I respect have told me he is a chosen vessel being used by God despite his flaws. Like General Patton, they say, he is a man with a heaven sent mission, and the rough edges, crusty language, and arrogance are essential aspects of his character and force of will.”
A question that has been asked is, is Donald Trump foreshadowed in the Bible, and if so, where? First, I quote Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel, who said, “In the long sweep of Jewish history, there have been a handful of proclamations by non-Jewish leaders on behalf of our people in our land. Cyrus the Great, the great Persian King; Lord Balfour; President Harry S. Truman; and President Donald J. Trump.” The Scripture says in Isaiah 45:1,4, “Thus says the Lord to Cyrus, His anointed…I have even called you by your name, I have named you, though you have not known Me.” Is it possible that the same could be said of Donald Trump? Is it possible that God has raised up Trump as He did King Cyrus for the sole purpose of accomplishing His purposes?
We do know that since the election of Trump, there are a number of ‘voices’ who have compared him to several biblical figures, not only to Cyrus. Why? To understand whether God has raised him up for a time as today one must first believe in the God of the Bible. In so doing, at the same time believe He reveals Himself to mankind in the words of the Bible. However, the question remains, does God speak through prophets today? Jonathan Cahn is a Messianic Jewish pastor, and author of “The Harbinger I & II;” “The Oracle;” along with several other books, and sees a definite prophetic connection between Trump’s declaration concerning Jerusalem that holds a striking parallel to the decree of the Persian king Cyrus as recorded in the Bible.
In the 3rd part of “Is God Speaking …?” we’ll look at a few of the most direct prophecies for today ever spoken or written.
